Houston Emergency Center

Americus was engaged to design, build and finance the Houston Emergency Center. The Houston Emergency Center is a 132,000 square foot facility located in Houston, Texas. This state of the art building houses the combined operations of Harris County 911 and the City of Houston Police, Fire and Emergency Services Departments. The building is a two story cast-in-place structure built to withstand extreme weather conditions including 150+ mph sustained winds and is located on a 10 acre site just northwest of downtown. The facility has backup systems for each mechanical, utility, communication and computing component, with a "lock-down" capability of up to 10 days. Full security measures were incorporated to protect the facility and expansion capacity was designed into the building and the land plan. The tenants emphasized a fast-track delivery schedule and the entire project was developed, constructed and delivered in 18 months.
